A good salon visit starts before you reach the salon. These simple steps help you and the professional get the result you want, without wasted time.
Before any appointment
- Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. Late arrivals often mean a shorter or rushed service, because the next customer is already booked.
- Bring reference photos. A picture explains a haircut or makeup look far better than words. Save two or three on your phone.
- Tell them about allergies and skin problems. Mention sensitive skin, recent treatments or medicines that affect your skin.
- Keep your booking or visit code ready if you booked online.
Haircut
- Come with clean, dry hair unless the salon says otherwise.
- Say what you do not want, not only what you want ("no layers", "keep the length below shoulders").
- Tell the stylist how much time you spend on your hair daily. A cut that needs blow-drying every morning is not right for everyone.
Hair colour
- Do not wash your hair on the day of colouring; natural oils protect the scalp.
- Ask for a patch test if you have never used that colour brand before.
- Be honest about previous colour or henna. It changes how new colour takes.
Facial and clean-up
- Avoid scrubs, peels and threading on the face for two or three days before.
- Come without heavy makeup, or ask for removal time to be included.
- Avoid going in strong sun right after a facial; use sunscreen.
Waxing
- Hair should be at least the length of a grain of rice for wax to grip.
- Do not apply oil or heavy cream on the area on the day.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
Manicure and pedicure
- Remove old nail polish at home if you can; it saves time.
- Tell the professional if you have any cuts or infections on your hands or feet.
After the service
Check the result in good light before you leave and ask how to maintain it. If something is not right, say so politely while you are still at the salon; most issues can be fixed on the spot.
