Good skin on the wedding day comes from steady care over weeks, not a single facial the day before. This timeline keeps things simple and avoids last-minute reactions.
Three months before
- Start a basic routine: gentle cleanser, moisturiser and daily sunscreen.
- Book your makeup artist and discuss your skin type and any allergies.
- If you have acne or a skin condition, see a dermatologist now; treatments take time.
- Get a haircut to remove split ends and decide on your wedding hairstyle.
Two months before
- Book the makeup trial for about a month before the wedding.
- If you plan salon facials, start now and keep them a few weeks apart.
- Try new products only one at a time, so you know what suits you.
One month before
- Do the makeup and hair trial with photos in daylight.
- Finalise the look, products and timing with your artist.
- Do a gentle clean-up or facial you have tried before — not a new treatment.
- Start any waxing or threading routine you will continue till the wedding.
Two weeks before
- Last haircut or trim.
- Manicure and pedicure plan; book slots for the week of the wedding.
- Keep sleeping well and drinking enough water during the busy preparations.
The final week
- No new products, peels, bleach or strong treatments. Reactions can take days to calm down.
- Threading and waxing two to three days before, not on the day.
- Mehndi a day or two before the wedding for the darkest colour on the day.
- Pack an emergency kit: blotting paper, safety pins, lip balm, small mirror, tissues.
On the day
- Start with a clean, moisturised face.
- Eat something light before makeup starts; it can take a few hours.
- Keep the artist's touch-up kit or lipstick shade with a family member.
For grooms
A haircut and beard trim a few days before, a clean-up a week before, and daily moisturiser and sunscreen are usually all you need.
